It’s the best job

It’s official (well technically it’s not but I just fancied saying it was) being an Aunty is the best job in the world. I’ve recently started a new job and although I’m loving it, my job as an Aunty totally overshadows it. If you’re a fellow Aunty, you’ll know what I’m saying when I say having a niece or nephew is totally awesome because…

  1. You get to buy them stuff you secretly want to play with yourself. A giant bubble maker wand which is nearly the size of my niece is a recent example
  2. You can take them for milkshake, cookies and ice cream and it’s sort of acceptable to consume all that sugar
  3. You get to offload them on their Mummy and Daddy when the sugar hit from the milkshake, cookies and ice cream starts to kick in
  4. You get the most amazing hugs and welcome, even when they’re super tiny and brand new
  5. You automatically gain a new friend from the minute they’re born
  6. You can chat to them about random stuff like what the weather is doing, what you had for breakfast and if you did a wee or a poo when you went to the loo
  7. You get to watch them grow up and develop their own uniquely brilliant personalities
  8. You realise that you love them more than you thought you ever might
  9. You’re suddenly totally cool with staying in to babysit them on a Saturday night and it actually feels really quite special
  10. You secretly hope they wake up super early to come for a snuggle in bed. Quickly followed by a lengthly conversation about the weather, why it’s not light and what you’re doing that day.

Being an Aunty is seriously the best job

June Wish List

June

Joe Fresh swim | Reiss shirt dress | Pixie Mood metallic grey handbag | Ray-Ban sunglasses |adidas superstar 80’s REN firming and smoothing serum | Pixi lip brush | Off-the-shoulder dress | Pandora ringTopshop sandals | Olivia Burton watch

I could have featured so many more things on my June wish list. There’s too many nice things out there!

I had a REN facial last month and I can’t tell you how amazing my skin looked and felt afterwards. I hadn’t had a facial in so long (I am talking years). REN firming and smoothing serum is a little pricey but I have fallen in love with it.

Another favourite is personalised items, I don’t have any the moment but definitely have my eye on these adidas superstar 80’s that you can customise – you can even put you name on them!

I had to feature this Olivia Burton watch. I’ve been a fan for ages but haven’t actually purchased anything from her range yet. I love the new collection she’s just launched and this grey mesh watch is so classic looking.

Pandora has been my go-to jewellery brand for years and I just love with this black stone ring.

Happy shopping everyone.

Nail your first day on the job

So Jose Mourinho is expected to sign his contract to be the next Manchester United manager – don’t worry this post isn’t about football, it’s about what you should and shouldn’t do on your first day at work.

High five to you for bagging that job, now you just need to concentrate on nailing your first day! Here’s my guide of what to do and what not to do.

Do

Get a decent night’s sleep the night before. It’s important your first day isn’t filled with you trying to disguise yourself yawning.

Prepare a 30 second version of who you are and why you’re so bloomin’ fantastic. Loads of people will be asking who you are, where you were before, where you live, favourite colour, etc etc.

Arrive around 10 minutes early but don’t go inside until the time you’re told to turn up. Practice the commute too if you’re not familiar with it so that you’re not panicking on your first morning.

Enjoy it. Your first day is exciting and the start of a new challenge and chapter in your life.

Treat yourself to some new clothes, looking and feeling fantastic makes such a difference.

Don’t

Turn into a recluse and not make an effort to speak to anyone or introduce yourself. Your first day is your time to impress. If your coworkers invite you to lunch, go. Show that you are ready to mingle, and let’s be honest that packed lunch didn’t look at appetising anyway.

Sit at your desk texting your mum/boyfriend/dog sitter/tinder date. Your mobile should be in your handbag, unless your new job requires you to be on your mobile.

Start slagging off your last employer. Gossiping isn’t cool and it will give everyone the wrong impression.

Begin telling your coworkers about the massive salary increase you’ve received. It’s never a good idea to discuss your salary with your team.

Sit there and wait to be told what to do. It’s vital you show you are energised and ready to crack on. Don’t be a lazy bones and just assume someone will give you a list of things to do.

And my final point…Practice how to make a decent cup of tea and coffee. No matter what level you are this is a vital skill.
