Mathematical Mirrors

My mathematical abilities are pretty shocking and maths scares the crap out of me. Put maths and interiors together though and you have my attention, especially when it concerns these new geometric mirrors.

The geometric trend is emerging as one of the key looks for AW15/16 after making its appearance in the majority of interiors collections this Summer. These mathematical mirrors from Atkin and Thyme are impressive and draw inspiration from the mathematical make-up elements found in the scientific and natural world.

This Clarence Wall Mirror (£249) features five overlapping quadrilaterals; one of the most infamous geons. This bold pattern combines with a sizeable surface area of 92cm x 92cm, to create a truly striking focal point. An antique brass finish adds to the stunning effect.

The Nigella Wall Mirror (£249) draws inspiration from nature rather than science. Based on the design of the nigella flower, the intricate composition features repeating outlines of the plant’s petals; each of which tapers to an elegant point. The three-dimensional outline of each bract and an antiqued brass finish result in a truly eye-catching effect.
